Today, there are many networking sites emerging that are more elite, ones for only executives, hedge fund managers, and some are even invite only. These more exclusive sites allow for acquisitions, mergers, and advertising to be done in a virtual environment. Founders of a game company were able to link with Yahoo! and get a giant deal for ad space. If you can find one that is more exclusive to what you want to specialize in or your interest it could turn out to be a fabulous find for you. If you’re going to link yourself on a networking site remember that you are projecting an image of who you are to thousands of people, how do you want to be judged?

"Resuscitate Common Rooms" The Standford Daily. 8 November. 2006

This article is from the Stanford Daily newspaper and focuses on the current condition of common rooms or lounges located in the dorms on campus. It talked mainly about how most of the dorms on the Stanford campus have lounge areas that are just terrible. This meaning that they never get used due to the fact that the pool tables are broken with misses pool cues or pool balls. The ping pong tables are broken and the rooms have TVs which barely work.  The article then goes into how this equipment got like this in the first place. It ponders on the fact that it is the students responsibility to use this equipment the right way and respect the fact that students are going to be using it after you are done.  I believe this is the exact problem that is going along with many of the dorms on our campus here at CSU.  Since my group has focused on the dorms around campus and have visited them, i have noticed that the smae thing is happening in our dorms. The students are paying enough money to our school that they should have lounge room equipment that is working and functionable.  This was prevalent upon the new dorms such as Summit Hall.  The lounges in this dorm has brand new pool tables, ping pong tables, working computer with internet access and a decently big flat screen TV on the wall.  It was easy to see that this particular lounge gets lots of use as well as the old broken down lounges get almost none.  These lounges can be used to build social structure within the dorms and help people meet each other and get to one one another. The more high-tech and nice we make these lounges, the more they are going to get used.
