Clinice, Mayo. "Work-Life Balance: Ways to Restore Harmony and Reduce Stress." 1 June 2006. 7 Nov. 2007 http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/work-life-balance/WL00056.
1. This source came up with a list of different things that you can do to balance your work and life outside of work. One example that it uses is making a list of everything that you do in a given week and then taking things out that aren’t necessary so that you have more time outside of work to do things that make you happy. It basically gives you strategies to manage your stress and have a better life outside of work.
2. Some of the other things that this article lists are avoiding household chores that don’t always have to be done, only focusing on a family if you need to (men and women), setting aside at least one night a week for recreation, schedule routine things on work days so you can have your "days off", seeking professional help if needed and more. They emphasize how important it is to have a different life outside of work.
3. Some of the pros’ I think are obviously that these things will give you more free time to do whatever it is that you want to do. I find myself doing things like chores on my days off all the time, whereas this says instead of that I should do them after work, school or something like that to have more "me" time on my days off. The negatives of that is most of the time I’m tired already and I don’t really feel like doing those kinds of things when I’m done working.
4. I think one important thing that we should keep in mind is that this isn’t for everyone. This article doesn’t talk about people that may work nights or do something that is outside of what they might assume people are doing for work. These are all great suggestions and many of them pretty easy to do and remember so just keep in mind that we should do what we can and not try to over exert ourselves because that will only add stress to both our job and outside of it.
